The White Line

The White Line tells the shocking story of segregation and ill-treatment of Irish Traveller Children in the Irish schools from 1963 onwards. In a first on Irish radio, adult members of the Irish Traveller Community tell their stories of a school system that segregated, punished and humiliated them as children. In moving testimonies they reflect on the impact that experience had on their lives. All the voices in this documentary, including the narrator, belong to members of the Irish Traveller Community, none of whom have received an acknowledgement or an apology from the Irish State for the treatment they received.
