Sniper Joe & Sister Jim
Set against the cartooned backdrop of the Irish War of Independence, sniper gunner Joe Mahon seeks to avenge the death of his most probable father and protect the honour of his unfussy mother. Guided by Sister Jim, a foul-mouthed spiritual advisor, Joe's futile attempts to ‘snipe’ a gentle English soldier reveal the absurdity of war. Featuring Tina Kelleher (The Snapper) and comedic maestro Mikel Murfi, it plays up the opportunism and misogyny that sneaked in after all the visionaries died fighting for freedom. Alan English, Editor of the Sunday Independent, praises this absurd comedy as a “scintillating piece of work.”
