Tam O'Shanter

Blending elements of Robert Burns’s poem with his witty and insightful expansions, writer and performer Gary McNair takes us on an epic journey - Tam gets drunk in the pub, gets on his horse, heads home through a storm only to find himself face to face with the devil and a party of witches… Working with traditional musicians Malin Lewis and Michael John McCarthy, we aimed to create a visceral new version of this cherished poem – honouring yet challenging the original in a production that celebrates Scotland’s ceilidh culture with a fusion of music and words.
