A grande epopea de Galicia

Hundreds of thousands of Galicians led a massive collective exodus for over a century. They set sail for America with empty suitcases, heavy hearts, and heads filled with dreams of a better future. Not all succeeded, but each contributed to the achievement known as “The Great Epic of Galicia,” which altered our history. In 1916, Galician Pancho Pego acquired Partagás, the iconic Havana factory essential for understanding one of Cuba's primary resources: tobacco. The other is sugar. Galicians had a notable presence in both sectors. In this episode, we explore rural areas to uncover traces of Galician emigration in Cuba.
