Stardust

Stardust is a 3 part documentary series telling the definitive story of the nightclub fire in Dublin which killed 48 young people on St Valentine's Day in 1981. The series explores the context of the time, the night of the fire, the devastating impact on families and the local community and the 43 year fight for justice. In April 2024, after a new inquest, the Dublin Coroner's Court returned a decision of ‘unlawful killing’. A state apology followed days later, vindicating the families' extraordinary decades long battle for truth. The series allows families and survivors to tell their story in their own words and follows them through the year long inquest up to the day of the historic verdict. Episode One 'Fire' concentrates on the context of the time, events leading up to the fire and the fire itself. Episode Two 'Aftermath' looks at the official response to the tragedy as people begin to ask why this happened and who should be held to account? Episode Three 'Truth' concludes as we witness survivors and bereaved families receive a verdict that they have waited to hear after forty years of campaigning.
