Viewers were delighted when Humphrey took control of his destiny and followed Martha back to London to declare his undying love for her. Following a smash-hit first series, Beyond Paradise returns for a second series as DI Humphrey Goodman and his fiancée Martha settle into their new life by the Devon coast. Shipton Abbott continues to keep DI Humphrey Goodman and his team busy, with a baffling crime for them to tackle each week. From a mysterious death on a steam train, an arson attack predicted by a medium, and the disappearance of a local fishing legend, they have their work cut out in the small coastal town. When a priest from a Catholic boarding school suddenly disappears, Humphrey finds that his case has uncanny similarities to a local myth – ‘The Devil on the Rocks’. Why was he last seen marching on a nearby beach in the middle of a dense fog, and where is he now? With the school’s headmistress reluctant to aid the investigation, a large sum of money missing from the school safe, and the priest nowhere to be found, the team are kept on their toes trying to pin down the truth. Meanwhile, Humphrey and Martha are on the brink of a thrilling new chapter in their lives, as they consider foster parenting as a meaningful way to make a difference in children's lives. As they gear up for their big interview with the fostering panel, the pressure mounts. With the morning a chaotic whirlwind and everything going wrong, can they really balance the demands of fostering with their busy lives? What if they drop the ball when it matters most? Following the huge success of the second series, Beyond Paradise has been recommissioned for a 2024 Christmas special and the third series is currently in production.
